Tottenham 2-2 draw against Manchester City looks great on paper, watching the game, you would be left wondering how it ended in a draw. Tottenham looked second best throughout the game and if not for uncharacteristic finishing from the Champions, it could have been a whitewash from the hosts.
While Kevin De Bruyne was pulling the strings for Manchester City, Christian Eriksen had a quiet game for Spurs. Harry Kane was also shackled by the City backline, the England international tends not to play well against Manchester City and it showed again last week.
He could not lead the press and found it difficult to retain possession. The midfield duo of Ndombele and Winks found it difficult to control the game as they were repeatedly overrun by Manchester City.
Young right-back Kyle Walker-Peters was repeatedly exploited by Sterling in the first half but held his own in the second half. While Danny Rose had a tight battle with Bernardo Silva in the other side of defence.
Davinson Sanchez had a nice game blocking some of Manchester City attacks in the second half. The continuous benching of Lucas Moura remains a mystery as the Brazillian came off the bench to rescue a point for Spurs.
Against a team like City, it was surprising that he started from the bench given that Korean ace Son was suspended for the game. Moura recently signed a new deal with the club and it is likely that in the coming weeks he will be given the opportunity to break into the first 11.
Tottenham players will be thankful that they don’t get to face Manchester City every week.
