His future was in doubt during the start of the season due to the presence of several high quality players at the club. The change of the management that happened within arrival of Andre Villas-Boas has helped the youngster play on a regular basis in the first half of the season. The 24-year-old has already made 15 appearances for the club in the first half. The injury to the Cameroon international Benoit Assou-Ekotto has also benefited the youngster hugely.
He has said that he is extremely happy to be representing of the stature of Tottenham on a regular basis. Tottenham have made a great start to the season under Andre Villas-Boas. They are currently in the third position ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal. They are one of the favourites to finish in the fourth position. Naughton has said that he is happy to be part of this incredibly successful team. The club will be playing against QPR during the weekend. They recently progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup after the 3-0 win over Coventry City at White Hart Lane.
“I have had to be patient here at Spurs. It’s taken a few years to get a run in the side, but the gaffer seems to like the way I play, he’s giving me a chance and it’s up to me now to take it. I’ve been pleased with my performances but the main thing for me is that the team got the points over the busy festive period,” said the 24-year-old. Tottenham have a number of players capable of playing in the left back and right back positions, which makes the performances of Naughton even more impressive.
